TK done with therapy
There is a lot to report since our last blog, so here it goes:
For those of you who don't know, Todd's speech and physical therapy at Sunnyview ended on March 1st. He continues to go to occupational therapy but that too will be a thing of the past as of May 1st. Sunnyview has taught Todd all of the necessary skills he needs to be able to perform them at home, and thus Todd is doing them on his own. Todd is working out at home which includes riding a stationary bike and taking walks outside. He continues his speech therapy at home with the use and help of a computer program. Todd uses a Saebo hand brace which stimulates nerves in his fingers and helps improve strength in his elbow, wrist, hand and fingers. He also uses an arm brace to help increase flexibility in his right arm. He also makes use of a shoulder brace to help him keep good posture. His right leg is now becoming weight bearing and he uses an EMPI electrotherapy device to stimulate muscle contractions. Overall, Todd is progressing nicely and he loves that people still check in on the blog and leave comments. Thanks to Pete Grant, Jill (pants) and Meach............ I know you guys were wondering...........Todd does read your comments and he says thank you and keep 'em coming. Thank you to all you have continued to support Todd and leave comments............he is the author of this day's blog!!!!!!

Skip's Party
Hello to all and we hope everyone had a great holiday season. Things have been going well for Todd. He continues outpatient therapy at Sunnyview and he is still motivated as ever. We had a surprise 40th birthday party for Terry and Todd was the one who made all the arrangements. None of the guys wanted to face Terry and say they had any involvement in the planning so Todd agreed to take all the blame, and he did. Amy and Sue did pretty much all of the pre-party work and the guys basically showed up. Terry was surprised and all the guys were quick to point out that the party was all Todd's idea. We are gearing up for the annual Super Bowl party at Bob's and Todd will also be in charge of the arrangements. Thank you all for your continued support and Todd still enjoys the comments on the blog, so keep posting.

Happy Holidays
Thank you to all who keep posting, it means a lot to Todd. Todd is still progressing and he still has the spirit to keep improving. He is still in outpatient therapy at Sunnyview Hospital and he continues to do well. He is extremely happy that the Dolphins have a winning record as it is much improved from their electrifying 1 win season last year. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers and happy holidays.

For those of you who don't know, Todd is back in his apartment and has been for quite some time. 1 year ago today
It's been exactly 1 year to the day since Todd's accident and he is making improvements every day. Todd still has outpatient therapy at Sunnyview and he continues to improve day by day. As many of you know, Todd's favorite group is Heart and he was supposed to see them last summer at Turning Stone Casino but his accident prevented him from going. Tonight he went to SPAC to see them perform along with Cheap Trick and Journey. Ironic how 1 year to the day of his accident he gets to go see his favorite group. We thank you all for your continued support, thoughts, and prayers. All of it means a great deal to Todd as he continues to recover. Thank You.

10 months
Well it's been a little over 10 months since Todd's accident and his progress has been slow but steady. He is still in outpatient therapy at Sunnyview 3 times a week. The therapy consists of speech therapy as well as physical therapy. Again, Todd wants to thank everyone for their continued support. Todd does read the blog and he always looks forward to getting some words of encouragement through the site. We know the blogs have been few and far between lately but we will continue to update it as Todd progresses.

Last few weeks
Todd has been doing well and has been slowly improving. He has been getting out of the house a lot lately. He went to a few Union hockey games with the guys, he's been to the movies, the harness track and Carman Park to watch his nephew's LL games. He's definitely on the comeback trail so thank you everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers. We will definitely keep you posted!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Super Bowl Weekend
We hope everyone enjoyed the Super Bowl this past Sunday. Todd had his annual outing with all of his "brothers" (picture on the blog). Of course we can't leave out Peter P. who took the picture. Great job.
Todd is really doing great with all of his therapies. You would all be so proud of him, he is working very hard to get better. So again, thank you for all of your continuous prayers.
Todd received a brace for his right arm this week. He is supposed to wear it for one hour at a time to help straighten his right arm. At the moment Todd's right arm and fingers are contracted. The brace will keep his arm down, especially when walking. Everything takes time which we are all learning to appreciate more and more.
Thank you to everyone for their cards, thoughts and best wishes to Todd on his birthday. He was so overwhelmed and appreciative. He wanted to make sure I wrote a big THANK YOU to everyone. He also wanted to let everyone know that he won $70 from the scratch off lottery tickets that people sent, with the big winner------$25 from T.Z.
There was a very special card and note left at the front door for Todd. We did receive it and Todd was overjoyed to read it. We think it was from one of his dearest old friend's in the world but the note was not signed and we can't seem to get a hold of his number. So please, if you're reading this blog please give us a call. For everyone's information, this man is a true Dolphin's fan and is not afraid to admit it.
Again, you all hold a special place in our hearts and we never could have made it this far without all of your love and support.
God's blessings to each and everyone of you.

TODD TURNS 40 ON FEB. 2ND
Hello to all our friends, well wishers and family
We hope everyone is doing well and is in good health. We are sorry that we have not written in a while.
The big news is that Todd turns 40 this week! February 2nd. Who would have thought! Everyone who meets Todd thinks that he looks like he is in his twenties. No one would ever think that 40 years young is the start of the rest of your life. Thank you dear God.
All is going well but slowly with Todd. He is still going to outpatient therapy three days a week and is still doing home therapy 24/7.Everyday skills for us are a challenge for Todd but he never complains and is working very hard to get better. Nothing is beyond Todd's reach. Todd is beginning to put words together to form sentences. he is still walking with a cane but he surprised us this week by walking across the kitchen floor without it. His right arm is still improving slowly and he has limited movement but it has definitely improved since the accident. This just means he'll have to work that much harder to get it better. Please don't forget to remember Todd in your prayers since he has a long road in front of him. Also, please remember to thank God for all that he has done. Without him we would never be where we are today.
Just a little note of interest for those of you who may not know. Todd's head took the brunt of his accident on August 26th. It's ironic how his whole right side is affected when it was his head that hit. To quote our friend John Cimino "it's like a computer crashed and now it has to be re-booted." Who knows how long it will take. Todd's bike, mp3 player and glasses were all fine.
With all our love and prayers,
The Kitsock family

Happy Holidays
Happy "Holy"days and Merry "Christ"mas to each and eveyone of you. We would like to send all of you our very best of wishes and thank you for all of your continual support and prayers. All our love...John, Sue, Chrissy, and Jen....now our gift to you....
To all of my friends...because of all of your prayers I am here and getting better everyday. Thank you for all that you have done for me. None of your generosities have gone unnoticed. My speech is improving slowly. I am still able to carry a tune. I'm still taking small steps with my walking but stay on your toes because you never know when you'll see me walking through the doors. By the way, can anyone out there tell me the truth about how my Dolphins are doing? No one seems to be giving me a straight answer...I missed the first part of the season.
Thank you to my friends & co-workers at Von Roll for everything and every wish you sent me. I really enjoyed the Chrsitmas video.
Many many thanks to all of my extended friends, family, and neighbors.
A very special thank you to Fr. Brucker, Fr. Curran, & Fr. Demartinis for visiting me and all of the special blessings, prayers, and masses you offered for me. I know God heard them!
May God bless you this Christmas season as I have truly been blessed.
Todd

14 Weeks
Hello to everyone
Here's hoping that all of you had a very blessed Thanksgiving with family and friends. Once again there isn't much new going on with Todd. Things are still progressing very slowly but Todd is very determined to get better as quickly as possible. The therapists tell us it's like looking into a crystal ball and there's no telling how long it will take for recovery or how Todd's muscles will progress. We don't go by anything but God's time so please continue to remember all of us in your prayers and we'll also remember all of you.
We would also like you to know that one of the highlights of Todd's day is when the mail comes. So thank you to all who have sent cards and letters. Trust me, they are always welcome and they keep Todd uplifted. Also, a special thank you for all of the scratch-offs. No big winners yet, but Todd gets a kick out of them. God bless to all.

87th Day
Dear friends:
Thank you again to all of you who continue to give us all your love and support. You'll never realize what a source of strength you have all been. We continue to share all of your well wishes and comments with Todd. He does know that you are all rooting him on and wishing him well. We never could have come this far without you.
Todd is progressing well with his therapy. He has lots of "homework" to do because therapy is only 3 times a week at Sunnyview. It's seven days a week at home. Todd is so motivated and determined to get better he'll do whatever it takes.
We'll start with his speech. Todd comprehends 100% what is said to him. He knows what he wants to say but he doesn't always pronounce words correctly and he isn't talking in complete sentences yet. He does seem to manage to say key words of what he wants to say.
Physical therapy is going well. Todd continues to walk with a brace on his right leg and uses a quad cane on his left side. The therapists tried to walk Todd without a brace on his right leg but his ankle was too weak to hold his weight.
Todd still has very limited movement on his right arm and hand but the occupational therapists are working hard at trying to build up Todd's muscles and they use electrodes for muscle stimulation. Todd also wears a brace on his right arm at night. All in all we are still taking baby steps but we are also grateful for any steps.
One of our bright spots this week was that mom ran into the Ferraro family at Sunnyview. This is the family who some of you might not know. They shared the waiting room with us at Albany Med. They are blessings sent from God. Mom met Joe Ferraro and was so happy to meet such a wonderful, courageous and awesome man. Like Todd, he too has a long road to recovery as does our other Albany Med waiting room roomies, the Carr's and Dana. Please continue to pray for these two other families especially Joe and Dana.
Last but not least for this blog. From our family to yours, we want to extend a very blessed Thanksgiving to each and everyone of you. We thank God everyday for all that he has done for us. This Thanksgiving especially, we have more to be thankful for than ever imaginable.
With love in Christ.
John, Susie, Chrissy, Todd, Jenn and family.

11 weeks since accident
Hello everyone
It looks like our blogs will be weekly now since there is not a whole lot of updating except for Todd's therapy sessions. Todd met with his surgeon this week for a post-op follow up visit. The surgeon was very pleased with Todd's progress and will see Todd again in 3 months. The surgeon feels that as far as the surgery went, Todd is healing nicely. Todd does not need to wear his safety helmet anymore while walking. Hip hip hooray. Therapy started on Friday 11/9. This is going to be great since we finally feel like we are beginning to make some progress. Todd's therapists mean business and Todd is ready for any challenges they throw at him.
As of now Todd is scheduled for speech, physical and occupational therapy 3 times a week. The therapies are all limited and we have to keep re-applying for insurance to pay. Thanks to God we do have a few weeks to work with right now. We'll take all we can get. Just to let you know, we have wonderful therapists working with Todd. Your thoughts, prayers and comments are very encouraging and all of them are relayed to Todd.....so he does get your comments. Thank you and keep them coming.

WEEK 1 HOME
Hello to all. Well it's been one week since Todd's homecoming and he is very happy to be home. It's definitely more comfortable than being in the hospital. Todd had two outings this week. One for speech evaluation on Monday and then one on Thursday for physical and occupational therapy. Both evaluations were done at Sunnyview. Now we sit and wait for a phone call to let us know if Todd's insurance company approves outpatient visits and then a schedule needs to be set up for the outpatient therapy. Believe that one? Todd went from 5 days a week in therapy to a week and a half of nothing, waiting on insurance approval. Please continue to pray, pray, pray that God will send us a wonderful therapist. We have no doubt he will. In the meantime we continue to do exercises at home which includes walking short distances outside when weather permits and Todd approves. It continues to be a very slow process but patience is part of our everyday now. Again, thank you to everyone for your continued support. God Bless.
